For the second week in a row, there are no new books for the Sunday post so I’m hoping to get a review up instead. In the meantime, here are some various bits of news or other interesting links I’ve seen lately. Every year from December to early January, The Book Smugglers hold their annual Smugglivus celebration. This includes guest posts from bloggers and authors in addition to their own end of the year discussions on favorite books. It started […]
There are two great book giveaways over at the Tor/Forge blog right now (they are only open to US residents, though). One is a Brandon Sanderson prize pack, which consists of hardcover copies of the Mistborn trilogy, Elantris, Warbreaker and The Way of Kings. The other is 25 assorted fantasy books from them, and there are some really interesting sounding books there (including one of my new favorites, Elfland, which I’m working on a review of now). It also includes […]
Welcome to my new site!

Considering she also said she talked about her own favorite in the comments, I had to go check it out. In her comment, she said that she definitely has plans to write more stories about the Druj from “Hatchling.” “Hatchling” is not only my favorite novella in this […]
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that regular blogging will resume soon. There’s a lot of unpacking to do, but at least it doesn’t look like complete chaos in here anymore. In the meantime, here is some news I found as well as a preview of what is coming up next week. Lois McMaster Bujold’s blog has some information on how to get a taste of CryoBurn, the new Miles Vorkosigan book coming out in November, before it is published. The […]
There are a couple of links I’ve been meaning to write about and they keep collecting so I figured I may as well just aggregate them all instead of making separate posts. After the flooding in Nashville, Tennessee, the schools really need children’s books as well as storage bins. There are also wish lists on Barnes and Noble (mostly books for younger children) and Amazon (mainly books for YA/older children) for specific books that they would like replaced. To read […]
